Everyone inherently knows that massage can feel good. If we have a tight muscle, we instinctively massage it. Why is that? Muscle tightness causes stagnation of blood and fluid as the blood flow gets clamped. Massage helps to break up muscular tension to allow good blood flow.
While a needle can do this job quickly and effectively, some people simply don’t like needles or the feeling of the needle releasing the muscle. For those people, I’ll use massage as a way of treating the musculature and fascia, creating the releasing looseness that we all seek. As well, even for people who like getting acupuncture needles, I’ll use massage as an adjunct therapy and a way to balance the treatment.
