“Food can either be the best form of medicine or the slowest form of poison.”

It can be difficult to eat the best food with busy lives, budgets and our depleted American soils. I practice the Loomis System of nutrition which uses a multi-faceted approach of patient history, body palpation, and other testing to determine whether the body is struggling to digest proteins, lipids, or carbohydrates. Depending on which major nutrient is struggling to be digested, different organ systems can be effected further down the line.
The basis of Loomis’s supplements are enzymes. Enzymes are the workers of your body. Imagine if you were building a house and the materials were delivered but no one showed up to work. This is what most supplements, both Eastern and Western, struggle with and why they require such large doses. All of Loomis’s supplements have enzymes in them to help digest and better utilize the supplement. He also offers formulas that are mostly enzymes. These are either meant to be taken with food to help digestion by replacing the enzymes that have been systematically bred or processed out of the food or taken away from food. Enzymes help support the immune system as the ammunition that white blood cells use to fight inflammation and foreign invaders.
Loomis discovered the body palpation part of his system studying himself. He took a vitamin or mineral and gave himself an extremely large dose for one whole week. He then cut it out cold turkey to see which muscle in his body became tight and spasmed. If your body is chronically deficient in a vitamin or mineral, it might not matter how much you stretch or massage a muscle, it might never release until it is properly fed. Loomis found the same might happen if an organ is in stress from a vitamin or mineral deficiency.
